How our Ministry came about

Watching Christian Television in the fight for the unborn I learned that there is a great need to combat abortion. My curiosity led me to various maternity homes in different states including St. Clare's Home in our area. St. Clare's Home in Greer SC has the capacity to house 8 women. To have a maternity home in our area is great and much needed. But this one is not enough. What about the ones who are in need of a place to live? What are we to do for them? I felt this strong pull on my heart to do something about it. With pen in hand and prayer I wrote down some ideas. Some time later I shared with my close Christian friends what the Lord had put on my heart. They immediately encouraged me to pursue it. I knew then, there is no backing down from this. This was my assignment.

This took me on a journey I could not have dreamed of. I got in touch with various local churches and Non- Profit ministries to find out if they had something in place to help a pregnant woman in crisis. Many have ministries for battered women as well as post abortion counseling, others deal with drug and alcohol abuse situations to help them to overcome their plight. I couldn't find any in the ministry for a pregnant woman in need or in crisis. Everyone thought it was a mission very much needed and gave me helpful advice on how to pursue this vision.

In early 2022 I joined the Light and Life Pro-Life Ministry in our church. The mission of this ministry is to bring awareness to the congregation to combat abortions. It is part of a local chapter of PPL (Presbyterian Protecting Life). They have been very instrumental in encouraging me to move forward. It's been a little over two years since I started my new journey. The Lord has graciously given me a name for the ministry one early morning; "The Shepherd's Heart". Four very special ladies and team members of the Light and Life ministry have joined my team. They are excited to be part of The Shepherd's Heart Ministry. The logo for our ministry was designed by Jean Keaton who lives across the country. I had printed out some pencil drawings by Jean but could not make out her signature. Searching the internet I found the artist. I contacted her and shared the vision of The Shepherd's Heart. She wanted to know what logo I had designed. Not charging anything, she offered to fine tune what I had done, and sent back her beautiful artwork with words of love and encouragement. Jean has a beautiful heart for the Lord and people. You can find her on the web at 'jeankeatonart.com'. Her inspired artwork and ministry is quite remarkable. Thank you Jean for your generosity and love for the Lord!

We are a Non-Profit Ministry since January of 2024, God has opened that door through Russell Community Church. May the Lord richly bless you! Several doors have opened for us since. I want to express my deepest gratitude and thank you to all who were instrumental in helping to bring this ministry to fruition.
